The town of Castelo de Vide, located in the mountainous and cool region of Serra de São Mamede, is a charming town of the XVI century with monuments, fountains and old houses yet to be discovered. Classified as a national monument, the Historical Center of Castelo de Vide is a real "legacy" of Alentejo. This set consists of a medieval town and Jewry, of winding alleys and sidewalks, surrounded by 2.5 km of walls from which imense landscapes can be seen. The construction of the castle was ordered by King D. Dinis, yet only finished during the reign of his successor, D. Afonso IV in 1327. Worth pointing out the oldest chapel of Castelo de Vide , dated from the XIII century and a synagogue from the XIV century.
