Redondo is a beautiful town in Alentejo, the county seat, much famed for its clay products and its quality wine.
Its quiet streets and simple, low white houses, decorated with a bright colored band, breathe the peace of mind of the Alentejo region, through interesting monuments like the Castle, the Mother Church (XVI and XVII centuries), the Church of Misericórdia of a Manueline style, the Calvário Church (seventeenth century) or that of Our Lady of Health of the seventeenth century, as well as the precious town of Pelourinho.
The combination of granite and shale fertile soils enables the production of one of the biggest assets of the region: wine, this being one of the regions of Denomination of Controlled Origin (DOC) in the country
The tradition in Redondo is still what it used to be, still producing handicrafts with ancient techniques that characterize it, as is the case of production of utilitarian and decorative pieces in clay, with very distinctive decorations, some with floral motifs, some portraying the daily life of rural Alentejo region.
These two important types of production typical of the Round are evident in the two museums dedicated to them: the Wine Museum and the Clay Museum.
