Alpalhão
Alpalhão is a small village in the municipality of Nisa. This county of Alto Alentejo is situated on the plain between the mountains of São Mamede and the Tagus River, being known for the benefits of its thermal waters, for the quality of the traditional cheese and for the works in clay and embroidered fabric that leave the hands of the local craftsmen.

In the surrounding region there are many points of interest, such as Marvão and the Roman Ruins of Amaia, such as Castelo de Vide, Alter do Chão or Crato, and also the District Capital of Portalegre.

In summer, and despite the aridity of the plains many are also the offerings for a refreshing afternoon. The Alamal river beach, which is often awarded the Blue Flag, is one of them and is just over half an hour by car.

For those who enjoy hiking this is the ideal spot. In the municipality of Nisa there are trails of exceptional beauty such as the Jans trails that takes us from the beautiful village of Amieira do Tejo to the banks of the Tagus passing historical sites such as Vila Flor or the Barca da Amieira.

We can also walk the Conhal trails to the colossal geological monument that is the Portas do Rodão and observe birds like the vultures. But these are just two of the many options for lovers of outdoor walking. The county is vast and diverse, the plain blends in with the mountain and descends to the banks of the river providing unforgettable experiences to its visitors.

The Alter do Chão stud farm is also just over half an hour away and offers a variety of activities for kids and adults.
