The Wines Margaça - Soc. Agr. de Pias are a truly family-owned business founded in the 1970s. The estate is located in the southeast of Alentejo, Portugal, in the village of Pias, which is situated between Serpa and Moura. The winery is inside the village of Pias and its vineyards 3 km north of the village towards Moura.
We invite you to experience wine and heritage with a visit to our wine cellar and artefacts museum, followed by a taste of genuine Pias wines.
We have young, full-bodied wines, as well as reserve wines rich in complexity, made from grapes from the Pias region alone!

History
The production of high quality wines in Pias began when a visionary named José Veiga Margaça acquired a set of properties between Serpa and Moura in March 1973, founding the Margaça - Soc. Agr. of Pias. His passion for oenology and knowledge of Alentejo lands allowed him to break new ground in production and create memorable wines.
For decades it has added flavors to the portfolio, won prizes and created all the distribution logistics, transforming the Vinhos Margaça - Soc. Agr. of Pias in an autonomous company and several of its wines in references of the Portuguese market.
Today, with a set of properties that add up to 800 hectares and 30 employees dedicated to the production of wine and olive oil in the parish of Pias, Vinhos Margaça - Soc. Agr. of Pias remain in the hands of the family that created it, and are the children and grandchildren of José Veiga Margaça who keep alive the tradition and the values that he inaugurated.
The winery
Built under the guidance of architect Filipe Nobre Figueiredo, the winery of Margaça - Soc. Agr. de Pias has adopted the best technology to ensure the quality control of our wines.
The old deposits were epoxy coated and equipped with cold plates. A large area was created for the fermentation of red wines in stainless steel tanks with temperature control, new handling and filtering equipment was acquired and the laboratory was redesigned.
Its integration in the premises where the store and the offices of the company operate, as well as the fact that it is located within the town of Pias itself, guarantees the connoisseurs and visitors a very close contact with our work, our processes of elaboration and our wines.
The Margaça Wine Cellar is open to the world and to social responsibility. Collaboration with local schools has been regular for three decades. Here we provide professional internships for students of different educational levels, including young people with some form of disability. Since 2007, the company has been supporting the education of employees and their children.
The Wines Margaça - Soc. Agr. de Pias also support, financially, several associations that promote the culture and sport of the region.
The estate
Around the village of Pias, on the left bank of the river Guadiana, are located the 800 hectares of the estate of Vinhos Margaça - Soc. Agr. of Pias, distributed by five properties: Monte Branco, Monte Velho de Cima, Monte Velho de Baixo, Monte da Parreira and Monte da Torre.
With gentle elevations, varied soils, endowed with great natural beauty, the estate houses vineyards, olive groves, open fields and ravines, several water points and many areas for sport hunting.
The estate is ready to welcome all those who wish to feel the unique experience of creating a wine from the origin. Here you can see the vineyards, touch the grapes, listen to the stories, taste the wines and the richness of our gastronomy. During harvest time, visitors will be able to observe respect for quality in the introduction of contemporary methods of production. The course also includes contact with tools, fermentation tanks, cellars, packing unit, bottling and labeling and, of course, our store, with exclusive offers at attractive prices.
